Scott Crossett and Andrew Howie of IWMG recently visited South Africa to investigate
the current waste management practices. During their visit they meet with representatives
from various waste management companies operating in South Africa. They also had
meeting with senior Government officials who were involved in waste management
policy and legislation. Scott Crossett and Andrew Howie were shown two landfill
sites in the Johannesburg area that are operated by Enviro-fill. Both sites appeared
well ran and organised in terms of infrastructure present, which included a site
office with suitable facilities, weight bridge and security gate.
